Equality

At Heathmere Primary School, we expect everyone to be treated equally. Any form of discrimination is not tolerated. As a school, we work with the children to help them understand that everyone is different but everyone has an equal value regardless of their background.

At Heathmere, everyone is welcome and all staff and governors will continuously strive to ensure that everyone is treated with respect and dignity.  Each person in the school will be given fair and equal opportunities to develop their full potential regardless of their gender, ethnicity, cultural and religious background, sexuality, disability or special educational needs and ability.

Under the Equalities Act 2010, schools cannot unlawfully discriminate against pupils because of their sex, race, disability, religion or belief or sexual orientation.

Heathmere must comply with the public sector equality duty in the Equality Act 2010 and the Equality Act 2010 (Specific Duties and Public Authorities) regulations 2017. Click here for the school’s Equality Statement and Objectives.
