Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium Funding is funding that is given annually to improve education outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in schools in England. Evidence shows that disadvantaged children generally face additional challenges in reaching their potential at school and often do not perform as well as other pupils.

At Heathmere, we do not believe that disadvantage should be a barrier to learning; we expect all children to make progress regardless of their situation.

The funding is used for:

  • Teaching – investing in high quality teaching
  • Targeted academic support – additional support for some pupils focused on their specific needs
  • Wider approaches – support for non-academic issues that impact success in schools

At Heathmere, an evidence-based approach is used to allocate Pupil Premium Funding, including research from the Education Endowment Foundation.

The amount of funding is based on the number of children who have been entitled to a Free School Meal at any time in the past 6 years.
