Catch-Up Premium

Additional funding was allocated to schools in 2020 - 21 and 2021-22 to support educational recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic. This was initially knows as the Recovery Premium and then became the Catch-Up Premium

In 2020-21, Heathmere was allocated £21,520 in Recovery Premium and the money was spent on the following areas:

  • Releasing teachers for one day each to develop their curriculum plans for the next term, working with input from specialist teachers in maths and literacy to ensure plans were robust and were best-placed to meet the needs of all pupils
  • Training and implementation of the NELI programme
  • Catch-Up phonics for children in Year 1
  • Catch-Up number facts for children in Year 2
  • Maths tuition for children in Y6

In 2021-22, Heathmere was allocated £19,284 in Catch-Up Funding and the money was spent in the following areas:

  • Catch-up phonics in Reception and Year 1 (tracked half-termly by the phonics lead and monitored closely by teachers)
  • Catch-up number facts for children in Year 2 (tracked half-termly by the maths lead and monitored closely by teachers)
  • Maths tuition for children in KS2 (monitored by class teachers and discussed through pupil progress meetings)
